Biwater Trial Haydale's CeramycShield™ Ceramic Surface Treatment

01 March 2021

Haydale, (AIM: HAYD), the global advanced materials group, is pleased to announce that Biwater has positively trialled its CeramycShield™ product at its wastewater treatment site in Nicaragua.

Biwater provides sustainable treated water solutions improving water and sanitation provisions for millions of people across the globe. The Managua wastewater treatment plant has been operational for over 10 years in Nicaragua.

CeramycShield™ is a concrete surface coating that uses nano-Alumina and Zirconia Silicates to renew and preserve concrete surfaces. It inhibits attack from water, chlorides, carbonation, biological infection, and sulfates that are the main causes of concrete decay.

CeramycShield™ was applied to one of Biwater's primary clarifiers and has shown great results. Biwater will continue to monitor the performance of the product and ongoing discussions are currently taking place for collaboration on future infrastructure projects.

Javier Nunez, Biwater General Manager, commented: "The CeramycShield™ product was easy to prepare and apply to our primary clarifier. We have seen positive results and the adhesion of the product is excellent with no detachment present."

Keith Broadbent, Haydale CEO, said: "The results from Biwater's trial in Nicaragua have been very pleasing and we look forward to further collaborations with Biwater as we see the product trialled across more sites."
